Boxers Compete at Lane CC, Tierney Earns NWC Men's Track Athlete of the Week

Eugene, Ore. – The Boxer men and women's track teams competed at Lane Community College this past weekend. Several athletes moved up or onto the Outdoor Top Ten list again. The Northwest Conference has a qualifying standard for each event, and an athlete must achieve that standard mark in their event during the regular season in order to qualify for conference. This week, 13 more Boxers qualified for conference in their event(s).

Top Performers

Henry Tierney had a great day at Lane CC and earned the honor of being named the NWC Men's Track Athlete of the Week. Tierney finished 4th in the men's 1500m with a quick time of 3:56.76 and then finished 10th in the men's 400m dash, with a time of 52.00. Tierney then led off a men's 4 x 400m relay later that night. Tierney's season-opener 1500m time indicates he'll be in the running to break the school record this year. Pacific's school record is held by Dave Nees, set in 1976 at 3:51.4.

Seven Boxers finished in the top three of their event(s). Annie Berry and Liz Bradley finished 1-2 in the women's 1500m for first and second place, respectively. Berry finished in 4:48.59 and Bradley finished in 4:49.85. Angelica Gatica-Gomez took 2nd place in the women's 200m with her new PR of 26.18. Emily Rutkowski also placed 2nd, in the women's 400m hurdles, with a near-PR time of 1:05.56. Also taking a runner-up finish was Dominic Funk, with his throw of 60.82m (199-06) in the men's javelin. Lucas Dahl took 3rd place in the men's 200m with his time of 22.26. The men's 4 x 100m relay also took third place, with their time of 42.77, with a team made up of Romel Moreland, Tyler Vargas, Brody Bantolina, and Zion Booker
