Boxer Track & Field Competes at Lewis & Clark and Willamette

Portland and Salem, Ore. – The Boxer men and women's track teams competed at Lewis & Clark this past Friday night and then headed to Willamette on Saturday. Some Boxers competed in both meets, but most just competed in one of the two. 

Top Performers

Dominic Funk had a great day of throwing in the javelin at the Willamette Invite on Saturday. He won the event with his throw of 61.53m, or 201'10". That is a season PR for Funk and is currently the #5 best time in the NCAA DIII. Funk is a two-time NCAA Outdoor Championship qualifier in the javelin and a 1x NCAA All-American in the event. 

The Boxers had 18 top-three finishes at both meets. 

On the track, Emily Rutkowski took second place in the women's 400m dash (1:02.19) on Friday night at Lewis & Clark. Lucas Dahl also took second place in the men's 400m (50.42) at LC, and teammate Henry Tierney trailed right behind for third (51.51). On Saturday at Willamette, Lucas Dahl took second in the men's 200m (22.76) and Angelica Gatica Gomez took third in the women's 200m (26.87). In the women's 800m, Liz Bradley took second place (2:24.63). The Boxers had champions in the men and women's 1500m races; Henry Tierney won the men's race (3:58.21) and Annie Berry won the women's race (4:42.46). Emily Rtukowski took third in the women's 400m hurdles (1:07.99). In the steeplechase, Will Wada took third in the men's race (9:56.17) and Maddy Hubbs took second in the women's race (11:46.67). The men's 4x100m relay team of Romel Moreland, Zion Booker, Brody Bantolina and Lucas Dahl took second (42.36) and the men's 4x400m relay team of Cooper Rolfs, Kamron Shields, Alex Heinze and Garrett Stewart won the relay (3:32.12). 

On the field, a pair of Boxers took first and third place in the men's long jump - Jayden Fordham won the event (6.31m, 20-08.50) and Josiah Chaffin took third (6.29m, 20-7.75). Courtney Tiernan took second in the women's triple jump (9.79m, 32-01.50). At Willamette, Jarod Moren took third in the men's pole vault (3.85m, 12'7.50") and Dominic Funk won the men's javelin (61.53m, 201'10").

The Boxers will host back to back home meets during Spring Break. The Pacific Multi Meet, a heptathlon and decathlon, will be contested on Thursday - Friday, March 30-31.
