Newberg, Ore. – The Boxer men and women's track teams competed in the Rich Allen Classic meet hosted by George Fox University on Saturday, March 16. Two more school records fell: first, Henry Tierney broke the men's 1500m school record by winning the race and running a new PR of 3:49.55. The previous record was 3:51.4 set by David Nees in 1976. This is Tierney's second school record this year. Next, Ally Hammond set her sixth school record this year. Hammond broke the women's 200m school record by winning the race in a new PR of 25.83. The previous record was 25.86, ste by Marissa Smith in 2016.
Top Performers
In addition to Tierney and Hammond's school records, the Boxers saw a lot of success on Saturday. Angelica Gatica Gomez won the women's 400m dash with a time of 59.71, and Emily Rutkowski won the women's 400m hurdles with her time of 1:06.36. Annie Berry won the women's 5,000m with her time of 17:57.36. Ally Hammond also won the women's long jump with her mark of 5.42m. The Boxers had five runner-up finishes: Ally Hammond in the 100m hurdles (15.59), Russ Carmichael in the men's discus (40.62m), Ryan Miller in the men's long jump (6.68m), both the men's 4x100m relay team (43.26) and the women's 4x400m relay team (4:08.08), and three third-place finishes: Morgan Boddy in the women's 1500m (5:13.78) and Jayden Fordham in the men's long jump (6.53m),
