NEWBERG - Pacific track and field competed at George Fox University this past Saturday for the Rich Allen Classic. Slightly windy, this beautiful day brought about many more conference qualifying marks and five All-Time Top Ten performances.
Top Performers
The meet started out hot with Sophomore Morgan Boddy winning the 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 11:45.50, a 55 second personal record that shot her up to the No. 5 spot on Pacific's All-Time Top Ten list. Junior Makayla Tuiolemotu also had a good meet, winning the hammer throw with a mark of 44.67 meters, putting her at No. 4 on the Top Ten list. Senior Angelica Gatica-Gomez easily won the 400 in a time of 59.72, and junior Ally Hammond won the 100 hurdles in a time of 14.24, once again breaking her own school record and currently puts her at No. 1 in the nation for Division III.
Other notable performances included freshman
Mikell Adler taking second in the 110 hurdles in 15.47 seconds, sophomore
Ro'o Satta-Ellis placing third in the men's long jump at 6.58, and the men's 4x100 relay team finishing second with a time of 42.85.
"We are developing into a very solid and balanced team on both the men's and women's side." said head coach Ryan Huntersimms. "Our main goal now is to stay healthy these next couple weeks and get more qualifiers out of all the event groups at our next competition!"

Ally Hammond is headed to the NCAA Division III Indoor National Track and Field Championships this weekend in Rochester, New York to compete in the 60m hurdles. Hammond is only the second Pacific athlete ever to qualify for the Indoor National Championships and is the first Boxer to compete at this meet, as the first qualifier was unable to compete due to the 2020 pandemic canceling the competition. The preliminary round will be held on Friday, March 14th at 1:45pm EST.
