Pacific hosted its second track and field home meet for the season, the Pacific Open, on Saturday. Not only was it a day with more school records, top ten performances, and qualifying marks took place, it was also a time to recognize dedicated seniors and all they have done for the program in their time as a Boxer. With both the men's and women's team placing first, it certainly was a great day to be a Boxer.
Top Performers
The day started off strong with senior Cris Brethower winning the women's steeplechase and qualifying for the conference championship at the same time. Junior Megan Feitz also qualified and came in fourth for the event. Senior Natalie Taylor had a strong showing as well, taking fourth in the 1500 and moving up to No. 5 on the All-Time Top Ten list at Pacific.
Freshman Mikell Adler ran a new personal best in the 110-meter hurdles, moving him up on the top ten list as well. Senior Angelica Gatica-Gomez took second overall in the women's 400, while junior Ally Hammond took home a decisive win in the 100, once again setting a new personal and school record in the process. Senior Zion Booker finished third overall in the men's 100 in a time of 11.07, which moves him up in the Northwest Conference standings.
To finish off the race side of the meet, sophomore
Morgan Boddy ran a new personal best by nearly 30 seconds in the 5000, finishing in second and qualifying for the conference championships. Both men's and women's 4x400 relay races had two Pacific teams battling it out in a friendly competition, with one of those teams each winning the event. The last race of the day was the men's 10,000, which featured two seniors,
Kadyn Eves and
Reese Yamamoto, putting on gutsy performances in the grueling 25 lap race
For Pacific athletes in the field events, junior
Makayla Tuiolemotu had a big day winning the hammer throw and taking second in both the shot put and discus. Senior
Brooke Gerber-Perham took third in the discus, and freshman
